# Settings

Open Settings with **Settings…** (⌘,) in the menu bar, or the gear in
Expanded View. Settings opens in the Library window, at the foot of its
sidebar, with four pages.

## General

### LLM Connections

Claude Code, Codex CLI, Anthropic API and OpenAI API. See
[Hooks](https://www.bigshot.pics/docs/hooks#connections).

### Capture

| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Capture mode | Display, Window, Area, Smart, Frame | Area |
| Redaction | Pixelate, Blur | Pixelate |
| Show preview after capture | On / Off | On |
| Preview duration | 3, 5, 8, 15 or 30 seconds, Until dismissed | 8 seconds |
| Save location | Desktop (Projects save in their own folder) | — |
| Keep screenshots | 5 minutes, 60 minutes, 1 day, 1 week, Forever | Forever |

### Behavior

| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Launch at login | Set during setup |

### Code map

Shown with a Licence.

| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Image model | Not installed |
| Code editor | The first one installed |

The image model lets a Project's Code map match screenshots on what they
look like, not only their text, so Code Lens finds icons, images and charts.
It runs on this Mac and nothing is uploaded. **Download** fetches it once
(390 MB); the GPU prepares about 240 MB more the first time it runs, about
630 MB in all, which the row shows once it is installed. **Remove** deletes
both. Code maps keep matching on text without it.

### Updates

| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Check for updates automatically | On |

With it on, Bigshot checks at launch and once a day. When a new version is
out the page reads **Bigshot x.y is available** with **Download**, and the
menu bar gains **Download Bigshot x.y…**. **Check Now** checks by hand.

## Projects

The list of Projects, with **Add Project…**. Each row has **Activate**,
**Edit…**, and **Retry context** once screenshot sharing has been turned on. The
row's status line says whether sharing is set up, waiting for review, or
how many screenshots agents can see.

**Edit…** opens:

- **Project**: name, colour, workspace, and **Show in Finder** for the
  screenshots folder
- **Workspace setup**: the scan and plan described in
  [Projects](https://www.bigshot.pics/docs/projects#creating-a-project)
- **Screenshot context**: sharing, OCR, retention
- **Task tags**: edit, archive, restore, **New tag…**
- **Hooks**: see [Hooks](https://www.bigshot.pics/docs/hooks)
- **Make this the active Project**

## Shortcuts

The eight rebindable global shortcuts, **Reset all**, the keyboard tester,
and **Use ⇧⌘3 and ⇧⌘4 for Bigshot** (off by default). Turning it on
turns off `⌃⌥D` and `⌃⌥A`; **Turn On** brings one back. See
[Shortcuts](https://www.bigshot.pics/docs/shortcuts#replace-the-macos-screenshot-keys).

## Licence

Enter a key, see seat use, or deactivate this Mac. See
[Licence and updates](https://www.bigshot.pics/docs/licence).
